Advantage In! – Fountain Hills will host Women’s Professional Tennis Tournament

All of us here in the Tourism Division can not contain our excitement because in a mere 3 days the Town of Fountain Hills welcomes the CopperWynd Pro Women’s Tennis Tournament!   Taking place at the CopperWynd Resort and Club, on November 8-15, the Women’s Pro Challenge, a USTA Pro Circuit event, is the largest women’s professional tennis tournament in Arizona and only 1 of 2 women’s professional tennis tournaments in the state.

Let’s show these ladies some Fountain Hills love, no pun intended, by watching and supporting these pros as they compete for the grand prize and move one step closer to the Australian and U.S. Open!

The field for the CopperWynd Women’s $50,000 Pro Challenge will feature 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. Tournaments at the $50,000 level typically feature players ranked from #100 to #500 in the world.  They are stepping-stones to WTA Tour events and Grand Slam tournaments like the Australian and US Open. Each year, more than half the players in the US Open Women’s draw have either played or are currently playing on the USTA Pro Circuit.

CopperWynd’s inaugural tournament will be the last leg of the Australian Open Wild Card Challenge, in which the American woman who earns the most WTA ranking points at two of the three chosen USTA Pro Circuit events will receive a wildcard to compete in the Australian Open main draw. “It is very exciting to host a tournament in this series,” says Scott McCulloch, VP of Operations for Cliff Drysdale Tennis Management and the CopperWynd Pro Challenge Tournament Director. “The CopperWynd Pro Challenge will provide spectators with a chance to see these up and coming players in an intimate setting and then cheer for them at the Grand Slams.”

The CopperWynd Pro Challenge will feature several community tennis events throughout the week, including a Kids Day to kick off the tournament on Saturday, November 7th. “This community loves tennis, and we are excited to be able to host such a dynamic event,” states William Hinz “We are looking forward to continuing spreading our love and passion for the sport of tennis.” – CEO – CopperWynd Resort and Club

‘Fount Rushmore’ to Welcome Two New Additions

George Washington and Thomas Jefferson will join our Presidential collection of statues in Fountain Park

We think that our snow birds might be feeling a little homesick for Mount Rushmore National Park.  Fountain Park will welcome two new Presidential Art installations in Fountain Park on President’s Day this year making our park look more and more like Mount Rushmore!

Fountain Park, or should we say ‘Fount Rushmore’ will become home to two new Presidential sculptures on Monday, Feb 16, 2015.  There is no more appropriate day than President’s Day to welcome George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to Fountain Hills.  The pair will join existing sculptures of Teddy Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln on the southwest side of the park, along Saguaro Blvd.

The installation of these two new life-size pieces in “Presidents row” was made possible through the fundraising efforts of the Fountain Hills Cultural and Civic Association and the generous donations from the Town of Fountain Hills residents.  These life-size bronzes were created by Colorado artists; George and Mark Lundeen.  Both Lundeen Brothers will be delivering our new acquisitions on Monday, February 16, 2015, at approximately 2 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to visit the park on this day and view the additions to our Town’s treasured art collection.

Concours in the Hills Returns 2/7

Now that the Super Bowl and Waste Management Open have come and gone, you might be asking yourself … Now what?!

The organizers have created an Arizona statewide Concours d’Elegance in suburban Phoenix where antique, historic and high performance automobiles will come together to be viewed and judged in an ideal and dramatic setting on the beautiful green grass of 64-acre Fountain Park in Fountain Hills, Arizona, with its famous 560-foot fountain, one of the world’s highest, serving as a dramatic backdrop.

Cars will be judged in the categories of Best Import, Best Domestic and Best of Show. Judging will be conducted by the entrants and spectators will judge “People’s Choice.”

The Concours is supported by the leading car clubs of Arizona representing Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Jaguar, Ford GT, Viper, Corvette, Lotus, De Tomaso, DeLorean, and others. Hundreds of ultra-high performance, exotic and rare collector vehicles is scheduled to be on display. A Look Back

A Look Back

The holiday season is in full swing and the New Year quickly approaches, and as with many others this time of year, we too are reflecting on what the past 365 days have meant to us.

2014.  In a word; WOW!  The Fountain Hills Office of Tourism has many incredible things to reflect on this year.  First thing is first, 2014 has brought the tourism program under Town direction and with that the creation of our dynamic duo!  Where would I be without my other half, Rachael?  Well I can tell you one thing for sure; Tourism Thursdays would be very boring without her!  Over the past year Rachael and I have been working hard to bring excitement and exposure to Fountain Hills.  From this program we have launched a successful social media campaign, redesigned our tourism look and launched a major marketing campaign with one goal in mind; we want more visitors!  However, this past year has not just been a journey for the tourism program; it has been a journey for us as well.

We’ve gone to statewide conferences, farmers markets, recreation classes, and special events.  We’ve gorged ourselves on town staples like Senor Taco, Dj’s Bagel Café, and Chocofin.  We have found our fresh, found our food, found our festivals, found our family, and found our fun, but most importantly we have met some incredible people around town and that means that we have found it all!

We may be the team who are charged with bringing this town to visitor’s attention, but in all honesty Fountain Hills has brought itself to our attention.  We have experienced Fountain Hills and now it’s your turn!  We hope this blog inspires you to get out there, try something new, experience something unique that only this incredible town can offer, and find what Fountain Hills means to you.  Here’s to 2015 an everything it has in store for us, see you next year!
