Tortilla Trailhead to Tortilla Ranch Ruins

This 6.4 mile round trip moderate hike begins from the Tortilla Trailhead off of the Apache Trail (Highway 88). There are some ups and downs as It follows an old dirt road to the ruins of Tortilla Ranch but plan for no shade along the hike. There are also expansive and scenic views of the Superstition Mountains along the way. The group will break for lunch at the ranch site.

Off road vehicles are allowed on the road but should be minimal during the week. There is about a 1 1/2 hour (50 mile) drive to the trailhead. From Tortilla Flat the road turns to dirt and then becomes rough when turning to the trailhead. Only high clearance vehicles should be driven to the trailhead. We may stop in Tortilla Flat for ice cream on the way home.

Bring 2-3 liters of water, lunch and snacks; wear a hat and sturdy hiking boots. Hiking poles recommended. No dogs, please. Please reimburse the driver for gas.
