This hike, led by Vicky Derksen, is equal parts nature observation, stargazing, and cultural perspectives on the night sky. This hike features the cultural stories of the circumpolar constellations. We’ll share stories from the Diné (Navajo), the Sámi (reindeer herders), and Greek cultures.
Our trail is just over one mile round-trip on uneven desert terrain with rocks and natural obstacles that require steady footing. The elevation gain is moderate. We will stop frequently along this route to observe.
This hike is suitable for ages 12 and up with good mobility and fitness for desert hiking.
We hike even if it’s cloudy. Space is limited, so register today. If tickets are sold out, join the Wait List to be notified if there is an opening.
Location, meeting time, and other details will be sent directly to those who purchase tickets.
